The Beginning of LegendofLinc: How My Journey Started in 2017
Leaving Basketball Behind
Every brand has a starting point — a moment where vision, purpose, and identity come together and turn into something bigger than a dream. For me, the beginning of LegendofLinc didn’t happen in a boardroom, a design studio, or a music label office. It started in 2017, during my senior year of college, when I made one of the boldest decisions of my life.
That year, I chose to walk away from college basketball — something that had been a huge part of me for years — to fully commit to building the future I saw for myself. People always tell you to get an internship, join a program, or find a mentor in your field. But honestly, nothing could’ve prepared me better than the path I created for myself. My senior year became the internship I never applied for — an internship into my own destiny.

Instead of sitting in classrooms or going to practices, I found myself exploring shows from local artists, studying major label performances, networking with creatives, and learning the real behind-the-scenes of the music industry. Every event, every conversation, every late night spent researching or creating — it all became the foundation of what LegendofLinc stands on today.
How My Great Grandfather and The Legend of Zelda Inspired The Name
As I dove deeper into building my identity as an artist and entrepreneur, I knew I needed a name that meant something. Not just a stage name — a legacy. My first thought was my great-grandfather, Lincoln, a man whose stories my grandfather shared with me were filled with strength, resilience, and a sense of quiet greatness. His name carried weight. It carried history. It carried pride.
At the same time, another powerful inspiration hit me — the iconic video game franchise The Legend of Zelda. The themes of adventure, exploration, courage, destiny, and stepping into the role of a hero of your own story resonated with me deeply. Link — the main character — wasn’t the loudest, the biggest, or the most obvious hero. But he was the one who showed up, pushed forward, and protected his world with heart and purpose. That energy spoke to me in a real way.
Building the Foundation of a Legacy
Between the legacy of my great-grandfather Lincoln and the themes of heroism and courage from The Legend of Zelda, the name formed itself naturally:
LegendofLinc.
